It was a lazy Sunday when I decided to head to Cathedral Cove for the first time. I’d heard so much about it, and with the weather on my side, it felt like the perfect day for an adventure.
Getting There
The walk to Cathedral Cove is an adventure in itself. Starting from the car park near Hahei, the track winds through native bush and along clifftops with jaw-dropping views of the ocean. It’s about a 45-minute walk each way, but there are plenty of spots to stop and take in the scenery. I remember pausing at one lookout and just being blown away by how far you could see.
At the Cove
When I finally arrived at the cove, it felt like stepping into a postcard. The iconic rock arch, the golden sand, the clear blue water – it’s the kind of place that makes you want to sit and stay awhile. I spent the afternoon swimming, exploring the caves, and just soaking up the sun. If you’ve got a snorkel, bring it along. The marine life here is incredible.
Tips for Visiting
Pack Light: The walk can be a bit of a workout, so keep your bag light.
Timing: Early morning or late afternoon is best to avoid crowds.
Respect the Environment: Take your rubbish with you and stick to the paths.
A Must-Visit Spot
Whether you’re a local or just visiting, cathedral cove tour is a must. It’s one of those places that leaves a lasting impression, and I’m already planning my next trip back.
