The Middle East is a region where automobile is king and fuel is cheap, typically leaving little reward to find more environmentally-friendly ways of moving around.

But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have actually risen the cost of oil, the problem of finding alternative sources of fuel has actually entered sharp focus.

In a region that has among the highest carbon footprints worldwide, one business is benefiting from the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing profitable too, currently their client-list includes McDonald's.
